The MAN Bouquet

So J found out a few weeks ago he was getting promoted at work :) GO HUBBY! He's been busting his ass for a while trying to move up in the company and it's finally paid off. Although we were so excited about his promotion, it was bittersweet because he was going to have to change stores as well. (The people that work for him where he was were like family to us.) He was sad to be leaving them and they were sad to see him go.

So Saturday (his last day at his store) he came home pretty mopey, with a box of things from his desk, gifts from his co workers and a really sweet card everyone signed for him telling him farewell. Along with his sadness, he was also super nervous about moving stores and having to, in a sense, start over. Don't get me wrong, hubby is great at meeting new people and everyone that meets him loves him because he just has an awesome personality that attracts people. But you know how nerve wracking it can be having to walk into a place and be the newcomer.

Anyway, with the big change, and to congratulate him on his well earned promotion, I decided to put together a little gift. Something unique, that he wouldn't expect, but that would put a big grin on his face. I searched pinterest (my go-to for DIY) and found the perfect thing... a man bouquet!

Here's what J's looked like when it was finished...

(taken with my phone, sorry it's so blurry!)

J loved it! He loves creative, thoughtful gifts like this.

Husband of the year award!

Yes, that's right my husband wins the husband of the year award!!! For what, you ask? Let me tell you...

I woke up around 1:40am for a pee run. I roll out of bed all groggily-eyed, get on my feet and head out of our bedroom; only to find a big black blob running across my kitchen floor. I nearly had a heart attack, stopped right in my tracks and watched it run under the kitchen table. Now that I was fully awake from the scare of this little monster, I flipped the kitchen light on to try to see exactly what this creature was. Not being able to get a good look (because I was terrified of getting too close to it) I ran to my room and grabbed a shoe from the floor. Got back in the kitchen and the little bastard was gone! I was horrified, it could have been anywhere at this point!!!!! I run back into my bedroom, tap hubby on the shoulder; he quietly muffles "hmpphh." I was like "Babe!! Get up!!! There's a bug in the kitchen, it ran away, I can't find it, I need it dead!!!" So hubby rolls out of bed, stumbles into the kitchen and the little sucker is staring right at us from the OTHER side of the kitchen. J goes... "What the hell is that thing?" I was like "I don't know, I think it's a spider, just kill it!" He reaches down to smack it with the shoe and it jumps away. That's the moment I realized it was just a huge, over sized cricket (that very much resembled a big hairy spider). J reaches down again and gets it this time. *Sigh of relief* I can now go to bed knowing the big scary creature in the kitchen is gone.

And the best husband of the year award goes to................... My love, for getting up in the middle of the night to save me from the gigantic cricket that almost sent me into preterm labor.

Sweetest Husband EVER!

Ever since I first found out I was pregnant, my husband has been on his toes waiting for me to have some kind of craving in the middle of the night so he can go out and get it for me. He just loves making me happy, I suppose; or maybe he just loves hearing me brag about how awesome he is! To be honest, I think it's a little bit of both ;)

Anyway, I hardly ever have any cravings, and when I do, it's usually something we already have at home and I just have to walk to the kitchen to get it. Well last night around 3am I got up for my routine pee run, then J got up for his. Once we were both back in bed, we couldn't go to sleep. It's like we were wide awake and ready for conversation... so we laid there and had pillow talk for an hour or so. As I was dosing off, I remember saying "I'm hungry." J didn't respond so I figured he was already asleep. Then, half asleep I muffled "Some french toast with strawberries sounds so delicious right now." Pretty sure I was completely out after that.

I was woken up 4 hours later to the delicious smell of homemade french toast and scrambled eggs. Hubby rubbed my shoulder and said "Baby, wake up..." I looked over to find this next to me in bed....

A full plate of french toast, dusted in powdered suger with fresh strawberries and a side of scrambled eggs. Breakfast is served! He is so good to me :)

He's amazing.

Since I've been pregnant, I feel like I can't get enough rest/sleep. All I want to do is lay in bed and watch movies or sleep the day away. Obviously with two kiddos and a house to run, that is not at all possible. Joe is the type of person that constantly has to be doing something productive. If he's not working, he has to be cleaning or something. He occasionally sits down to play a game on his PS3 or watch a movie but it is rare.

Let me just add in here that the kids have been at their dad's since Friday night and will not be home until Wednesday morning. So it has been super duper quiet around ere lately and I've been taking advantage of it. Joe and I had a little date night last night; we went to see Breaking Dawn when I got off work (which was awesome BTW) then came home and we were in bed by 8:30pm. Right before I dosed off, I remember telling him I was craving donuts and how I wish there was a donut delivery place that was open 24/7 so I could get my fix. That's the last I remember.

So this morning, he got up at 7am to go to work. Got dressed, kissed me goodbye (while I was still laying in bed) and headed out the door. About 30 minutes later, I hear Bruno (the dog) running around the apartment like a psychopath and was about to get on to him when I saw Joe walk into the bedroom with a huge bouquet of flowers and a bag. I was shocked, he had pretended he was going to work but really went out and bought me flowers and brought me home some delicious donuts :) Then proceeded to tell me he was playing hooky today so we could lay in bed and watch movies. And that's exactly what we did. Scanned through Netflix and watched movies alll day. It was awesome and so relaxing!

He is too good to me :)
